Achieving climate neutrality requires fossil fuels being largely replaced by renewable raw materials. The Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering is conducting research on environmentally friendly bioprocesses and sustainable products and materials made from biomass. Additionally, it assesses the environmental, societal, and economic impacts of these processes, products, and materials to actively shape the transition to a circular bioeconomy.
Funded by the "excellent=austria" programme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Cluster of Excellence brings together scientists from universities across Austria.
