Reinforcement for our team

Maja Jakobs will support our team as a research assistant.

Maja Jakobs has been part of our team at the professorship since 15.01.2025. As a research associate, her thematic focus is on the sociology of climate change and environmental social sciences.

Three questions for Maja:

Where did you work before you moved to the University of Graz?

I worked in Berlin for two years at a sustainable startup/fintech company that calculated the carbon footprint of banking transactions. Before that, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Leeds (UK), followed by a Master's degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management. During my studies, I spent a semester abroad at Grifith University in Gold Coast (Australia).

What will your tasks be?

Together with Hermine and Marie, I will supervise and lead courses, especially the practical laboratory “Sustainability, Climate and Behavior”. Otherwise, I will be working on my dissertation, which I would like to write in the areas of extreme weather events, climate change attribution and climate action.

What is your favorite place in Graz?

The Zottel. It's a free creative space and a place for various cultural and community events. Apart from that, I don't know much else for now...

Drei Fragen an Maja:

Was ist dein Lieblingsort in Graz?
