Welcome to the Professorship of Sustainability, Climate Change and Human Behaviour
Profound societal change is necessary to tackle global challenges while ensuring environmental integrity, social cohesion and economic prosperity. Sustainable solutions must take into account diverse perspectives and be developed with stakeholders in order to ensure their effective implementation and successfully tackle the complexity of current societal challenges.
At the Professorship of Sustainability, Climate Change and Human Behaviour, we conduct interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research by fostering international collaboration that focuses on sociological and environmental issues. Our focus lies in the topics of decarbonisation and climate change adaptation in agricultural and food systems, public attitudes towards sustainability goals and their behaviour in dealing with socio-economic and environmental changes. These topics are also an integral part of our courses.
Rethinking the environment, society and the economy
The diverse relationships and interactions between the environment, society and the economy are at the centre of our research. We work with scientists and stakeholders at both national and global level to harmonise environmental interests with social and economic needs.

Sharing expertise, knowledge and skills
In our courses, we equip students with the tools, knowledge, and expertise to understand, critically evaluate, and design effective sustainability solutions. We work on sustainability issues at both national and global level and critically discuss theory in light of the latest research findings. Our aim is to foster social dialogue and make the knowledge of our research available to a variety of stakeholders beyond academia and the scientific community. New research results and events are announced on the News and Events pages.
